CNN Morale ‘Real Grim’ as a network faces corporate division

CNN employees are affected by the impact, as the network faces another corporate restructuring of their parent company Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), feeding a disturbing morale in the newsroom.

“I would say that the mood is still very sad,” said CNN staff at Fox News Digital. “People are uncertain.”

Last week, WBD announced that it would be divided into two companies, separating the studies and streaming business from its cable networks, cnn between them. The latter company, tentatively called World Networks, will be led by the WBD CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels. The division is expected to end next year.

“We knew this happened,” said CNN staff. “And it was required to be able to sell the company. People expect CNN to be sold, and as Gunnar said, there is no limit, any sale can be made at any time, to a buyer who will invest in him. This is the bottom line.”

Although world networks will retain a 20% participation in the study and streaming business, the new CNN parent company will have a large burden for most of the massive debt of Warner Bros. Discovery. And Wiedenfels is expected to premiere the ropes of the portfolio.

“I think they have clearly telegged that more cuts are approaching. Gunnar efficiency,” said CNN staff. “And we still have no streaming, it is hard to imagine that it does not get worse [CNN is set to launch a new streaming service this fall]. “”

“Their freedom is not to grow things. This company is a crate flow giant with reduced income. Like the agreement. It is not just the speed that is reduced. That is why the assets were divided,” they continued.

CNN has been repeatedly orphaned by corporate parents for years, from Time Warner in the 1990’s, to AOL in the early 2000’s, at AT&T in 2018, giving rise to his Warner Bros. spinoff. 2022 Discovery directed by CEO David Zaslav.

In 2023, Zaslav played Mark Thompson, a veteran BBC executive and New York Times, to become CNN’s CEO. Thompson has been a member of his efforts to transform the news organization in the digital age in the almost two years he has been at work. But the Ire newsroom, at least for the moment, is headed to the WBD head.

“In recent years under Zas have been a disaster for what he has done,” said CNN staff on David Zaslav, President and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery. Atmosphere

“Zaslav killed this place. He killed him,” said a second CNN staff at Fox News Digital. “The amount of debt that CNN is part of the CNN is not ideal, but at least it can be a new start. In recent years under Zas have been a disaster for what it has done.”

Industry critics such as Puck’s correspondent Dylan Byers have planned Doom and Gloom for the CNN future, which suggests that he will fulfill HLN’s fate, which has noted “no longer exists.” However, a third staff of the CNN says that critics projecting CNN’s disappearance are simply “reading the same tea leaves as everyone else” in terms of systemic cable problems.

“I try to find out what I will do later when everything collapses, but I do not even know when this will be,” said CNN’s third staff at Fox News Digital. “If we go underneath, I will get a new job. Maybe earning more money, maybe earning less money, who cares? At the end of the day, it’s just a job, right?”

Despite all current inconvenience, not all hopes are lost in the CNN news room.

“I think CNN may be invested and a relevant and powerful brand,” said the first staff. “For me, and I am skewed, CNN is a brand like Nike. If we throw it, it is a choice and a thing based on management, not a macro fait.”

A CNN spokesman denied comments. Warner Bros. Discovery did not respond to a comment request.

The CNN corporate saga reaches a rough patch for the network, who suffered its second month in sight, the demographic of the adult advertiser from 25 to 54 years old, both for the spectators of the total day and in the first hour of May and is at a rate of having its lowest year in the demonstration.
