This teenager android is the first flying humanoid robot, but the Internet is dragged on by its appearance.
The Italian Technology Institute (IIT) has recently shared a video that updated the curious viewers of the IRONCUB MK3’s Progress project, but the robot’s face seemed to be of special Internet interest.
“Why does it look so Freaky,” he reflected on a spectator in a reddid thread dedicated to humanoid robot, in the meantime, another wrote, “This is very impressive, but for God, what happens to this face? He is looking at my soul.”
“The technology presented here is fantastic, but why does F – k look like a monster baby?” Another redditor was wondered.
Some spectators who encountered mechanical creation were especially thinners outside the box and proposed some wild theories about their appearance.
“When the uprising arrives, you will be much less likely to shoot a cyborg with the baby’s face,” a user theorized. “You will have this fraction of second, which is all that it needs …”
No matter how much the robot may seem, conspiracy theorists should not worry, but is not controlled by the AI. Instead, it is teleoperator, or is controlled by real people remotely.
The IIT Artificial and Mechanical Intelligence Research Team works almost completely with Robotic Humanoid Technology, and now has five different robots, according to Live Science.
This particular model is the result of two years of research, tests and development. With the jet package, the baby robot weighs 154 pounds and is about 3 feet high.
According to the IIT, IRONCUB MK3 is being developed taking into account “specific applications such as the response to disasters”.
Typically, these robotic research efforts focus on land -based rescue and exploration, but the institute believes that the implementation of aerial locomotion skills will increase the usefulness and efficiency of these efforts.
“This research is radically different from traditional humanoid robotics and forced us to make a substantial leap to continue with respect to the state of art,” said Daniele Pucci, one of the team’s researchers.
Although many Internet users expressed deep confusion over the child’s childhood aspect, it turns out that some of the most humanoid characteristics that Ironcub MK3 has.

The functional legs allow the robot to cross the ground once it reaches the air, and the realistic capabilities of hand and arm allow them to open doors, move objects or even interact with things like switches or valves.
Currently, the arms of the robot have been replaced by two Jet propellers, but as the development of the project continues, it will have its restored upper extremities.
The Ironcub MK3 has been tested outdoors in various situations and also suffered flight tests in a wind tunnel, another first for a robot.
Although most of the Internet users put themselves on the robot’s baby’s face, others saw their charm. “It’s Astroboy !!” One user excitedly commented, while another was seen: “It is actually beautiful.”
Regardless of the theme of the aspect of Android, do not be too significant, after all, this unique appearance creation could save life someday.
